Wow, we sure were blessed last Sunday, weren’t we? The amount we raised in one day together was astounding! To have reached not just our Victory Goal or Challenge Goal, but our Miracle Goal!!!! We sure can move mountains when we work for the Lord, can’t we?

I don’t know how your life has been going since you gave your gift but ours has been a real struggle. Seems we made the devil pretty angry when we chose to fulfill our commitment instead of hoarding our money. He is attacking my family now and trying to make us honor money instead of honoring God, like we should. Every day it seems another bill or another car repair is necessary. It’s actually getting to the ridiculous point where we can only laugh at the onslaught when we should be crying and worrying. I can’t be full of worry, though. That’s God’s job, to watch out for me and my family. He’ll take care of us even in our darkest days. He’s proven that time and again.

The devil is now trying to stop us from keeping our commitment to NorthStar. He’s giving us his best shot. I hear him, in my head, sometimes, telling me to use my money to fulfill my own needs. But you know what? I really don’t need to buy that extra toy for my son or the special cooking pan that Rachel Ray recommends. What I need to do is I lift my heart to God and let Him take over my worry. I need to let it go and just continue to trust that God will take care of my family. I’ll let Him battle Satan for me.

I will continue to stand by my pledge and make my commitment check out each week, for as long as I have money in the bank. I know God will make sure that our needs are fulfilled so that we will be able to continue to give our weekly gifts to NorthStar. God gave us a miracle at church last Sunday. In this economy, we did something impossible and raised funds that were unreachable. When I see all the wonders that God has performed in our church, I’m comforted that he will work his wonders on my family, too.

He is such an awesome God! Every time I think I can’t go one step further, something happens to let me know God is here with me. He picks me up and carries me until I can walk again on my own. He’s been toting me around a lot these past couple of months. The wondrous thing is – every time Satan hits my family with something new, it strengthens our love of God. It renews us and gives us purpose and focus. It helps us teach our children. God is becoming the focus of a lot of conversations in our house lately. This adversity has gathered my family together and we’re all hugging each other, huddled under His wings. God’s hand is on my family now and we’re blessed to have so much when others have so little.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
– 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

God does great things.

We’ve heard the stories and taught our children of the great miracles God performed in Old Testament times. We know all the awesome things He did through his Son Jesus…feeding 5,000 with a few small loaves, healing the sick, raising the dead.

And on Sunday, November 9th , we witnessed yet another miracle. God used a relatively small amount of people to raise an incredible amount of money, our Miracle Goal…enough to not only purchase land in our community, but to take the first steps toward building our future home. He used the hearts of the NorthStar family to prepare the ground on which many more people will find their way into His Kingdom.

From the start this journey has been a miracle. We were offered land at a price that people said was impossible to find in our community. We unanimously voted on taking the steps to acquire it. And with headlines indicating that the economy was working against us at the start of our capital campaign, it is apparent that what God did through NorthStar is nothing short of a miracle.

God still does great things…and greater things ARE yet to come!

THIS Sunday we will announce the results of the Foundations For The Future Offering and Commitments. It will be an exciting day as we celebrate God. Don’t miss it!
